The latest update in the ongoing construction project at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort includes another fresh step on some old carpet.
Walking up the first set of stairs in the Grand Ceremonial House to check carpeting progress at our favorite noodle restaurant, ‘Ohana, we noticed the separation of old and new carpeting styles here on the stairwell.
The landing is still in refurbishment, while the lower level staircase features a new pattern.
From the top of the stairs, it is easy to spot the disconnect in style.
Making our rounds, we noticed the rear stairwell has been completely reupholstered from top to bottom.

I still have not seen any article about whether the lush vegetation and water features will be replaced at the Polynesian entrance to the Great Ceremonial House. The immersive amount of foliage was the most important thing to me- it really set the vibe and made the place special, vs just a hotel room. Is there no news on that plan, or will it remain sparse?
