Disney’s Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World has reopened to regular guests after only being open to Disney Vacation Club members since last summer. Like many resorts, Wilderness Lodge has newly remodeled rooms. We looked at a test room back in 2019, but there have been some design changes since then.
Entryway
Many of the updates are similar or identical to those of the refurbished Copper Creek Villas, which we stayed in earlier this year.
Instead of carpet, there is now a laminate faux hardwood floor.
A wardrobe with a kitchenette is immediately to the right upon entering.
The safe and iron can be found on these shelves.
There’s a light above the small marbletop counter.
The artwork behind this shelf features a subtle nod to Bambi, with Friend Owl perched above him.
The drawer holds cups and coffee.
And the cabinet holds an open-face mini-fridge.
A sliding door with a mirror reveals the bathroom.
Bathroom
The mirror above the vanity has a plain frame and is lit from behind.
Don’t let looks deceive you, the storage space underneath the vanity is very shallow. See our video below for a closer look.
The vanity has a marble top, with a bit of extra counter space above the sinks.
There’s a small wooden tray for toiletries.
A second sliding door takes us into the room with the shower and toilet.
There’s a piece of totem artwork hanging across from the toilet.
There’s one wall of woodgrain in the shower.
The amenities are now mounted on the wall, but there’s a small shelf for anything you bring.
Instead of a curtain, there’s a sliding glass door.
This window looks into the bedroom. The granite design is just a decal stuck on both sides.
Bedroom
Here’s what it looks like from the bedroom space.
The latest trend in resort rooms is a giant decal on the wall behind the bedsd.
That being said, we felt there was a lot of empty white wall space.
We do appreciate the new headboards.
There are small shelves to the sides of the bed. This one has a “camp” sign above it and actually points towards the lobby.
On the other side, this “cabins” sign points towards the cabins. These shelves also have outlets beneath them, so they’re perfect for a charging phone, although there are no USB ports here.
The beds are now elevated to provide more storage space.
The headboards have small reading lights on either side, in addition to the wall-mounted lamps.
Standard and USB ports are above the side table.
There’s a drawer and an open storage space.
Chip and Dale can be seen on the wall tossing an acorn between them.
There are two chairs with a table between them.
We like how the chairs work in this room.
The pattern extends to the back of the chairs.
A second shorter table extends the small dining space. It’s light and easy to move.
The curtains have a leafy design.
More standard and USB outlets are above the dresser.
Balcony
As is standard, there are two chairs and a small table on the balcony.
We had a beautiful view of the lake and cabins.
In the distance, we could see Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Space Mountain.
Unfortunately, our balcony had a couple of footprints in the concrete.

Nice but a big NO on the bathroom barn doors. Have you ever stayed in a room with barn doors on the bathroom? We have and guess what? They do not close flush and do little keep both the sounds and odors in, and from the side you can see right in. Just take a look at the photos and you’ll clearly see there is only flat trim where the barn door shuts – No proper casing or indent where the door can sot into.
And why the heck would you put a window with decals in the bathroom to the living area?You can see that they are not totally opaque!
This room is an example where a dumb designer won out over logical funtion!
I am so very disappointed the old room were great with carved bed posts and decoration. This is so sterile and disappointing.
