Cast Members Offering Guests Golf Cart Rides to Their Cars as Parking Lot Trams Remain Out of Service

Cast Members were offering guests a ride back to their vehicles via golf cart after exiting EPCOT this evening. The trams that used to transport to and from their cars have been out of service since March 2020.

This offering is likely temporary. We reported earlier this year that the trams will likely return soon, as a number of parking Cast Members were recalled.

This service, albeit very limited, offers a convenient option for those who need or want assistance returning to their vehicle. However, it pales in comparison to the capacity of the parking lot trams, which were able to assist large numbers of guests at once.

Then these value-add gestures become very important to cast members — they can translate into big tips from upper income-echelon guests. This will happen once Disney lifts the ban on certain guest-facing cast members accepting gratuities. The gratuities will enable Disney to permanently and legally pay only minimum wage to those guest-facing cast members. Things are changing…
