With the fiftieth anniversary of Walt Disney World less than two months away, work is ramping up to get the parks ready for the Disney Fab 50 collection of character statues. Today, we saw indicators of this work happening at EPCOT.

Space has been cleared in the planters as guests enter World Showcase Plaza. So far, we’ve seen one plot cleared on each side of the entryway.

Currently, they’ve been covered with earthy materials before the statues are installed.

Cleverly, the spots will likely be less obvious to guests, as they’re located right behind tables being used for the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

Right now, the only statue that’s been officially announced as coming to EPCOT is “Coco”‘s Dante, though artwork for a display at Orlando International Airport did reveal concept art for a Figment statue. Given that Figment is the iconic character at EPCOT, it’s very likely that he’ll be coming to the park as well.

Recently, we saw similar preparations occurring at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Fab 50 statues are part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” kicking off October 1st.
