Walt Disney World has begun adding “Lightning Lane” signage throughout the four parks ahead of the fall launch of Disney Genie. Signs at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios have now been updated to read “Lightning Lane” and “Virtual”.
With Genie+, guests will be able to pay for access to Lightning Lanes and skip long lines, as they were previously able to do with the free FastPass service.
It was confirmed with the announcement of Disney Genie that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance would have a Lightning Lane.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance never utilized FastPass+, though there was previously a FastPass+ sign.
The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction has also never had a standby line, and it seems Disney doesn’t plan on introducing one anytime soon.
Though there is still a “Standby Wait Time” sign, the attached sign now says “Virtual”.
The virtual queue system used for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has had many technical difficulties in the past, but has been working more smoothly the past few months. Boarding groups have also recently been available into the late afternoon or evening.

I hate it. Done with Disney. This money grab is the last straw.
