REVIEW: The Banana Boom Sundae Celebrates Walt Disney World’s 50th with Fireworks at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom

From Fantasy in the Sky and IllumiNations to Disney Enchantment and Harmonious, fireworks have been a staple of Walt Disney World since it opened in 1971. Now, to celebrate the resort’s 50th anniversary, the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at the Magic Kingdom is setting off some fireworks of its own with a special sundae!

The Banana Boom — $12.99

Traditional Banana Split topped with Popping Candy and Chocolate Fireworks

This was a favorite from our team! It came with a large banana, dried strawberries, and diced pineapple on top of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream.

Popping candy seems to be a recurring theme in recent offerings (as we recently had a drink with Pop Rocks at EPCOT’s Space 220 Restaurant), but they’re quite welcome here. Our favorite part of this sundae was how the banana and chocolate ice cream complimented each other.

The sundae is huge, big enough for two or three adults to share. This could possibly feed four kids. They put the ice cream in a paper dish, so be ready to eat this quickly, as it does leak after time, making a big mess. That being said, don’t let it deter you.

This one is a surefire(works) winner!
