PHOTOS, VIDEO: Tokyo Disney Resort Releases Flyover of Massive New Land, Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea

Fantasy Springs, the massive 25-acre expansion to Tokyo DisneySea set to open in 2023, is still very much under construction, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the Tokyo Disney Resort from trying to drum up enthusiasm for its largest expansion since Tokyo DisneySea opened in 2001. Today, the resort posted a new video on their YouTube channel featuring a flyover of the new construction site, and shared a few pictures with us as well to show off their progress!

When the site’s construction began in earnest, the area was simply an overflow parking lot for Tokyo Disneyland. This view represents what the site looked like in June 2019.

Land was later cleared, and construction began in earnest in fall 2019. This view shows the site in February 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 closure. We have a construction report from around that time as well.

By July 2020, the foundations and even first floors of some structures were visible. Construction on the site only halted for around two weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our reports of the time reflect this progress as well.

Once November 2020 came around, many buildings except those in the Tangled area appeared to be well under construction.

January 2021 features the final buildings beginning construction and most others underway.

The speed of progress is really quite confounding in comparison to projects at the domestic Disney parks, as this photo from April of this year shows.

And finally, as we approach the present, this photo taken in August 2021 shows off how close many of the structures already are towards completion, with a few scaffolds down in some areas and the basics of the rest nearing completion.

We’re still a ways from the realization of this image, which will come sometime in 2023, so keep on watching WDWNT as we keep you abreast of the latest developments at this incredible expansion up to and through its grand opening!
