The Datapad Will Play a Larger Role for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Today at Destination D23, the team behind the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser elaborated on the role the Datapad will play on the journey.

Visitors to Galaxy’s Edge may be familiar with the Datapad, which is part of the Play Disney Parks mobile app. The Datapad allows guests to interact more with the environment and participate in “missions.”

Guests of the Galactic Starcruiser will further utilize the Datapad to live their Star Wars adventure. Travelers can use the Datapad to know where to be on board and when, such as for lightsaber training or a dinner seating.

The characters you meet on the ship and build the story with will also use the Datapad to contact you. They may privately reach out for help or information, allowing guests to make choices that further their story.

An example given was a possible communication from Lt. Croy, looking for information about a possible Wookie sighting. Guests’ responses can push their allegiance in one direction or another.

These actions can influence how the rest of your story plays out. The itinerary may update with secret meetings or missions based on your loyalties and actions.

  1. I mean, considering it is such a nonfactor in the actual Galaxy’s Edge anything would be a “larder” role.
