RUMOR: Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue to be Replaced with ‘Bluegrass Music Act’ at Pioneer Hall

It is rumored that the beloved Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be replaced with a new performance simply being described as a “bluegrass music act.”

UPDATE as of 4:30 p.m.: A Walt Disney World representative has reached out to WDWNT stating that this rumor is not true. Avery Maehrer of the Walt Disney World Communications team contacted us directly to let us know that Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue will allegedly not be replaced. When asked if Disney wanted to make a further statement about what the future holds in terms of the fan-favorite show, Maehrer had no further comment.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue consisted of two hours full of Wild West dancing, singing and zany vaudeville comedy. In between the skits, guests could chow down on buckets of all-you-can-eat fried chicken, smoked BBQ pork ribs, tossed green salad, baked beans, fresh-baked cornbread, and strawberry shortcake.

The entire cast of the show was laid off in late 2020. According to a source, some cast formerly involved in the Pioneer Hall dinner show have reportedly heard there will be a new show in town when the venue does return.

This rumor is circulating following the long-delayed announcement that the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is now permanently closed to make way for the new Disney Vacation Club villas coming soon to the resort.

As this is a rumor with only one source so far, we advise to take it with a grain of salt for the time being. We will provide more information as it becomes available, and this is one rumor we certainly hope is proven wrong.

  1. I hope this one is just a rumor, the Hoop-De Doo has been a staple of WDW for decades! Removing it would make a lot of fans mad…

    • Starting with me and my family. Our first visit was in 1975. I’d hate to see the Hoop Dee Doo disappear forever.

  2. Thanks for the post AND… the UPDATE.
So funny that HOOP DEE DOO (and Country Bears) has always been an attraction that I skip, but finally want to do for the first time come my OCT 2022 visit. So I’m glad to hear there are no immediate plans to terminate it. If anything – I think I BETTER see it – just in case the rumor TURNS OUT to be true, and I will never be able to say that I saw the show. Definitely going to see it while I have the time to.

You guys have been criticized in the past for “RUMORS.”
I always say, SO WHAT? It wasn’t posted as a factual report. It will either come to pass or it won’t, and you always report updates. AS WELL… you are correct MOST of the time. I appreciate this site very much, it’s my first go-to for how I plan and organize my Disney visits. Keep up the good work.

  3. My entire family loves the Hoop-Dee-Doo and we look forward to it with every visit. It’s a great family-friendly show and as an added bonus, the food is really good too!! Love the Strawberry Shortcake!! Sometimes there’s just no need to change something just so you can call it “re-imagined” or “refreshed”. Please don’t fall into that “change equals progress” debacle again. Look what happened when you tried that with Journey Into Imagination. That’s definitive proof that change just for the sake of change is NOT an improvement. We’re all still waiting for Disney Imagineering to correct their mistakes on Journey Into Imagination and give us what we want!! Just bring back the ORIGINAL version with state-of-the-art sound & lighting!! And BRING BACK DREAMFINDER!!! DO NOT make the same mistakes with the Hoop-Dee-Doo!! Just bring it back the way it is and let us enjoy it for many years to come:) We’re happy with it! Why aren’t you????

    • Belive it or not there were plans back during a scrapped re-theme of Future World with the current version meant to be temporary but plans fell through. Last I heard Disney did imply something big will happen soon.

  4. Not the Hoop-de-do too I also worked that show & it was a favorite of Guests also first the Luau now this has someone gone brain dead or something?

  5. While this is only a rumor it does not surprise me and most likely it is true. It sounds like a cheapened entertainment change and while I like bluegrass it is not a show like hoop de doo. Think of the size of cast that hoop de doo requires as well as crew and then compare to a blue grass group a max of 5 performers and a very small stage crew. Cheapek and minions at it again. Remember all the entertainment at the parks? It had a two fold job to 1 to take up crowds so attractions weren’t packed and 2. It provided crowd control with in the parks. Look at the parks without the entertainment.

  6. I was working at Pleasure Island the week before the announcement that it was to close, and at a shift meeting A manager specifically told everyone that the swirling rumors regarding imminent closure were false, and that anybody found to be spreading that rumor would be subject to discipline up to termination.

A week later, it was the headline in the Orlando Sentinel.

I’m just saying, perhaps they doth protest too much – – again…

  7. What is the next shoe to drop, renaming all Disney property and removing Disney & Walt’s name from everything. If anything like that to happen all heck will happen. I will be there helping to get Disney back the way Walt had in mind. I wish Walt’s & his brothers & sister decendents would start making their voices heard in changing the Disney leadership!
