Br’er Fox & Br’er Bear Removed from Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade at Magic Kingdom

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which started on Friday evening, certainly has many new treats, merchandise, and experiences for us this year, but we did notice some characters removed from Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade.

Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear did not join the Country Bears in the Frontierland portion of the parade down Main Street.

Splash Mountain Characters Removed

Check out the “Boo-To-You” Parade from 2019 to see their previous appearance.

You can see the Splash Mountain bunch beginning around 10:09.

Then compare to this year’s parade below.

Though Splash Mountain is still open with the Br’er characters, Disney announced a retheming of Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to be completed by the end of 2024.

  1. Splash Mountain has always been my favorite ride at the parks, child of 1989 here.

But you know what? Yeah, I get it. Realistically, they’re removing the Splash Mountain ride in the next “year” (who knows how many human years make up a chapek year), and honestly what younger kid knows who these characters are?
It is a bummer they didn’t replace them with new or different characters and there’s just, less characters overall.

But yeah I can understand why you’d just take ’em out at this point. To me it’s neither a good or a bad thing, just a thing.

    • On the contrary, they did replace the Br’ers with different characters. If you watch the video from 2019 and compare it to this year’s parade, you’ll notice that Liverlips and Shaker from the Country Bears are new this year. They haven’t been part of Boo to You for many years now.

  2. And they introduced the BAYOU Burger around the same time. Totally not suspicious at all. 🙄

Sorry, I will NEVER support Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Can’t get past the fact that they’re just slapping that name and those characters on a log flume, which does not fit Tiana or her movie at all!

  3. They won’t be missed, at least not by a significant number of people. I’m willing to bet that if the eagle-eyed reporters at WDWNT hadn’t pointed out their absence, few if any park guests would even notice their absence. I suspect those characters are now living out the rest of their days in a retirement home with the cast of “America Sings.”

  4. This makes me very happy I was born 70 years ago. This reversing history has gone entirely too far. Brer Bear, Fox and Rabbit were terrific characters and brought me a lot of laughter. They weren’t any more racist than The Jungle Book. And now folks are claiming Mary Poppins is racist because Dick Van Dyke and she supposedly acted in black face. They had coal dust on their faces. Hmmm, mighty suspicious. Especially because being a chimney sweep is a dirty job. Enough! Bring some sanity back in to the world!

  5. Theyre trying so hard to distance themselves from “Song of the South”, The movie never got a DVD , Bluray release, They swore that it will never be added to Disney+. No matter how much they try its their history & legacy. Even Whoppie Goldberg said that she favors releasing it on Disney+, as we are bound to repeat the mistakes if we dont learn from them. Lets face it Walt had some issues with race (was in favor of segration etc). But if the walt disney company thinks they hide this stuff from the public their standing will improve among the AFAM community, No.
