Lawsuit Alleges Guest Served Food Containing Broken Glass from Cinderella’s Royal Table at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is facing a new lawsuit alleging a guest was served food containing broken glass bits at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom.

Attorneys for the plaintiff released a statement to Florida Politics on the lawsuit. The complaint details injuries sustained by the guest Mary Brumbaugh from eating the glass including two fractured dental crowns and excessive bleeding in the plaintiff’s mouth. The aforementioned statement from her attorneys John Morgan and Scott Halperin is shown below:

“On July 31, 2019, Mary Brumbaugh, who was 58 at the time, and her family visited [Walt] Disney World from Chicago, IL for what they believed would be a fun vacation. While dining at a restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, our client was allegedly served glass in her food that fractured two dental crowns and led to extensive bleeding in her mouth. We are working to ensure Disney is held accountable for their alleged negligence and to ensure they take more care to prevent future incidents like this.”

Brumbaugh told lawyers that when she bit into her eggs, she bit into broken glass. Her lawyers asked Disney if there had been any complaints of foreign items found in food up to one year before the alleged incident. She’s suing for more than $50,000 due to physical injuries sustained that resulted in expensive doctor and dentist visits, as well as emotional distress.

Disney has seen their share of lawsuits of late, and we’ve covered them quite extensively:

Fortunately we didn’t encounter any broken glass during our most recent visit to Cinderella’s Royal Table, the first with princesses greeting guests since the pandemic.

  1. I hear former CEO Bob Chapek is also suing for allegedly putting his own foot in his mouth while on a Disney stock holders call.
