Scaffolding Removed From Tallest Spire of Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom

Ahead of the grand opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom, crews have been cleaning the exterior of the adjacent Space Mountain. In early February, work moved up to the tallest spire on the building’s roof and it was surrounded by scaffolding.

The scaffolding has now been removed from the tallest spire and it looks like work in this area is completed.

Now there is scaffolding over a set of three spires on the righthand side of the mountain.

We didn’t see any crew members out during our trip, but there were plenty of ropes hanging down from this spot that crew members would clip to with harnesses.

In addition to the spires, crews have been cleaning between the ridges of the Space Mountain exterior. Inside, new starry flooring has been installed in the queue.

TRON Lightcycle / Run previews are currently ongoing and the attraction will open to all guests on April 4. You can check out our full tour of the TRON Lightcycle / Run queue and read our review of the attraction, plus enter the grid with our POV video.
