There are many ways to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company and the Dress Shop at Downtown Disney District has a new Disney100 Loungefly mini backpack.
Disney100 Loungefly Mini Backpack – $78
The bag has a silvery, sparkly platinum finish. The Disney Parks and Loungefly plaque is on the top front.
The plaque is extra sparkly.
There is a small front zipper pocket. The bag has an all-over pattern featuring Mickey and friends in their Disney100 costumes. They are surrounded by stars and fireworks, as well as the Disney100 logo.
There are small open side pockets and one large zip pocket.
The straps are covered in an art deco design. Much of the platinum Disney100 merch is art deco, inspired by the 1920s when The Walt Disney Company was founded.
The interior lining has the same pattern as the exterior, but without any textured sparkles.
Disney 100 Years of Wonder
The Disney 100 Years of Wonder (or just Disney100) celebration is underway at Disneyland Resort. Other Disney100 merchandise includes a Minnie ear headband, an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit collection, limited release pins, and a Citizen watch.
Each month, a new Disney Decades collection is being released, starting with the 1920s featuring “Steamboat Willie” merchandise. The 1930s collection included “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and “The Band Concert” merch.
Disney100 pressed pennies, and collectible medallions are available throughout Disneyland Resort.
Other Disney100 souvenirs include Mickey balloon popcorn buckets, a Mickey straw clip, and a star glow “cube.”
LEGO and Funko POP! have also released Disney100 items.
Decorations around Disneyland Resort include purple banners listing classic films and release dates. A platinum Mickey Mouse statue and a matching Minnie Mouse statue are in Disneyland Park. Guests can use MagicBand+ to interact with giant platinum medallions.
Guests can enjoy new nighttime spectaculars: “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland and “World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure.
Reservations are now open for the “Celebrating Disney100 at the Disneyland Resort” guided tour, including a walk through both parks, the drawing experience at Animation Academy, a digital download of a photo taken in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, a Disney100 snack, reserved viewing for “Magic Happens” parade, and a limited-edition pin.
100th anniversary celebrations will begin at Walt Disney World next month. Each month through September will have a theme highlighting a different group of iconic Disney characters. Disney100 will be celebrated at EPCOT with Mickey and Minnie in their platinum outfits and a platinum Mickey sculpture. A new Spectacle of Light show will debut on Spaceship Earth, and, in late 2023, a new nighttime spectacular will premiere to replace “Harmonious.” Journey of Water, CommuniCore Hall, World Celebration Garden, and Dreamers Point are all scheduled to open in late 2023 at EPCOT.
Moana will have a meet and greet in Animal Kingdom beginning on Earth Day, April 22. Mirabel will have a meet and greet at Magic Kingdom beginning “this fall” in the Fairytale Garden. She will be replacing Merida, and the area will be redesigned to look like the Casita Madrigal.
