The all new Hot Dog Éclair (officially known as Sweet Summertime Favorites) has officially arrived at Disney’s All-Star Resorts.
Sweet Summertime Favorites ‘Hot Dog’ – $6.79
Éclair with Chocolate Buttercream, Iced Sugar Cookies, and Raspberry Dipping Sauce
We stopped into the Intermission Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort to try the new Sweet Summertime Favorites dish. Although it looks like a regular hot dog with french fries and dipping sauce, it is actually a dessert. The hot dog is an éclair in disguise, the fries are actually sugar cookies, and the “ketchup” is a raspberry dip.
Upon trying this, we didn’t think it tasted anything like a traditional éclair. The puff pastry part that resembles the hot dog bun was incredibly dry. The taste slightly resembled a cookie. The chocolate buttercream was overwhelmingly sweet.
The iced sugar cookies were not bad, though they did crumble as we picked them up. The raspberry dipping sauce was the consistency of gelatin, which made it hard to dip anything in it. It was also extremely sugary.
Overall, it was not for us. We wouldn’t get this again because of its overwhelming sweetness and the fact that it was pretty dry. This would be a great snack for someone who loves very sweet treats, especially kids.
The Hot Dog Éclair is a visually creative idea, and while it may not be for everyone, we applaud the uniqueness.
