Artificial Turf Replacement in Mickey’s Toontown Continues as Walls Go Up in Front of Mickey’s House at Disneyland

Work on replacing all artificial turf throughout Mickey’s Toontown continues at Disneyland, as construction walls have moved to the area in front of Mickey’s House.

The wood walls can be spotted in the land all the way from the left side of Good Boy! Grocers.

Upon closer inspection, it appears that the AstroTurf area in front of Mickey’s House is entirely encompassed by the construction walls. We previously reported that this green space refurbishment work was taking place throughout the land, with two other instances of repair preceding this one.

These patches of grass are designed to be used as a place for guests to relax, enjoy a perfect picnic, or let kids run around and burn off steam during their Disneyland day. Characters can also occasionally meet guests in this area.

The benches that were also located in front of Mickey’s House appear to be included in the refurbishment area, or perhaps have been simply removed for the time being.

Disneyland Resort officials have previously shared a statement to local media explaining that the green spaces in Mickey’s Toontown will be under progressive refurbishment through mid-July, and construction walls will be present at those areas while work is being done.

We also noticed new construction walls directly to the right of the exit to Mickey’s House.

This area was previously home to a popcorn cart, which is currently closed for refurbishment.

A large black scrim hides about half of the sectioned-off area. The rest of the construction is blocked by wooden construction walls.

It is likely that the popcorn cart will return once refurbishment in this area is complete.

We also recently reported that the two spring riders in front of Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard have been removed, which you can read more about here.

The Reimagined Mickey’s Toontown

Mickey’s Toontown reopened to Disneyland guests on March 19, 2023 after an extensive reimagining. The land saw many changes, including an increase in the now-under-refurbishment green spaces, quiet areas and other accessibility updates for guests, a new music loop, and additional shade.

Staple structures in the land, like Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses, got a fresh coat of paint in slightly toned-down colors, but were otherwise left unchanged. Two new dining locations were also added to the land.

The land also features meet-and-greets with Mickey and friends, and marked the debut of Pete as a character in the parks.

You can watch our full tour of Mickey’s Toontown from when the reimagined land first opened in the video below:
