Parking Trams Returning to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney Parks announced the long-awaited news on their official X account (formerly known as Twitter) Sunday afternoon.

Parking trams have been absent from EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios since March 2020, when tram services were suspended at all four Walt Disney World Parks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All parks were closed for a short period of time in mid-2020, with tram services eliminated for the sake of physical distancing when Walt Disney World began its phased reopening in July of that year.

However, even as Disney claimed the continued absence was for the “health and safety” of guests, distancing requirements were removed from attractions and other transportation in June 2021. Mask requirements for transportation were lifted in April 2022. Entertainment and buffet meals returned as Disney shed the COVID-era safety precautions.

Eventually, Disney Parks announced that the services would be returning to Magic Kingdom in December 2021, sharing in the same announcement that parking trams “[would] be returning to . . . other Walt Disney World theme parks throughout 2022.” Tram services returned to Magic Kingdom on December 19, 2021, and to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 27, 2022. Information regarding the return of trams to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios was scarce following the 2021 announcement, and guests had no other option but to make the long trek from their cars to the entrances of both parks as a result.

Now, two years after the trams first came back to Magic Kingdom, the return of parking lot trams to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios means that this service will once again be offered at all four Disney parks for the first time since 2020.
