Additional signage has been added to the exterior of the Summer House on the Lake building currently under construction at Disney Springs. Completion of the signage atop the marquee and the addition of further branding around the building highlight the most significant construction developments since our most recent update in late September.

More Signage Installed at Summer House on the Lake

“On the Lake” has been added in dark text on the front of the marquee below the “Summer House” signage that was installed in September. Walls prevent us from looking at the construction occurring inside the actual building, but work is ongoing; more scaffolding has recently been constructed near the marquee, yellow guardrails remain around the edges of the roof, and we saw workers scattered throughout the area. The new dining venue is scheduled to open at some point this year, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.

Additional signage has been installed in other areas of the building. Looking at the side of the restaurant from the AMC Theater, we can see that black “Summer House on the Lake” signage has been installed on the white wall above an overhang. It’s attached to a slightly indented piece of siding that, up until a few days ago, stuck out due to its slight difference in depth and color.

The simplistic black-and-white color scheme is complemented by gray and beige brickwork that was installed around some portions of the building’s exterior earlier this year.

Peering over the work walls that separate the new venue from the food trucks at Exposition Park, we can see that a similar “Summer House on the Lake” sign has been installed on this side of the building.

Particular developments on the interior of the building are difficult to make out given the height of the work walls, but we were able to spot construction equipment and workers.

Summer House on the Lake

Summer House on the Lake was announced in the summer of 2022, taking over the space formerly planned for Beatrix Restaurant. Disney and Lettuce Entertain You had previously announced that Beatrix was merely “on hold,” but it seems they decided not to go forward with that particular project. Lettuce Entertain You is the owner of both Beatrix and Summer House Santa Monica, which are both considered Chicago staples.

Summer House on the Lake will be located in the West Side section of Disney Springs. It’s one of several eateries at Disney Springs currently under construction or refurbishment; going over to the Marketplace section of the entertainment and dining area, the specific location for EET By Maneet Chauhan, a “modern, fun, Indian-inspired” restaurant that, too, will open in 2023, was recently revealed. The exterior volcano of the nearby Rainforest Cafe is currently engulfed in scaffolding, though the restaurant remains open.
