Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has reopened to guests as of today, November 6, 2023. We took a stroll through the park to check things out.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Reopens
Heading over to the park’s entrance from the parking lot, we spotted this Ice Gator sign with today’s operating hours.
Blizzard Beach originally closed back in March 2023 for its annual refurbishment. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon also closed today for its refurbishment, meaning that the two water parks will continue their pattern of not operating simultaneously. This trend first began when the COVID-19 pandemic forced both to close in 2020.
Themed as Florida’s first ski resort that was developed after a freak snowstorm in 1977 before slowly melting in the Florida heat, this water park offers 11 water-based attractions and a chairlift.
Media filming was happening in the water park during our visit.
Tropical Santa hasn’t yet begun his appearances at the park, but Cast Members told us to expect him sometime in mid-November. Watch our video from when we met him last year.
His meet and greet area is fully decked out and ready for him, though.
Lottawatta Lodge is the main counter service area for the park, and includes covered outdoor seating.
At the park’s Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company stand, we spotted the park’s signature drink, the “Happy Snowman.”
This refreshing beverage is made of frozen lemon with blue curacao syrup and is topped with blueberry popping boba.
Today was a perfect day to enjoy Cross Country Creek, the 3,000-foot lazy river that travels around the park.
Summit Plummet towers overhead as guests look on from Melt-Away Bay.
Over at The Warming Hut, we noticed that new wings are being offered on the menu.
You can choose from Garlic-Parmesan or Honey-Sriracha wings, either plated or served in a souvenir pail.
If you’ve ever watched “Beach Party at Walt Disney World” from the Disney Sing-Along Songs VHS, you’ll recognize Ski Patrol Training Camp.
At I.C. Expeditions, you can get ice cream treats like the Sand Pail Sundae.
Avalunch offers various hot dogs and a Caesar Salad.
Over by the Arctic Expeditions food cart, we spotted new churros were available.
You can satisfy your sweet tooth with either the S’mores Churros or the Banana Split Churros.
The Chairlift is a one-way ride that carries guests over the face of Mount Gushmore from the beach to the summit.
Tike’s Peak reopened with new “Frozen” theming in 2022 when Blizzard Beach finished its annual refurbishment.
Guests can encounter static figures of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff as kids, with a few snowgies and even Olaf getting in on the fun.
Previously, this area was full of baby IceGators.
Another iconic photo op is the snowman family, featuring Button the snowkid.
If you’re curious about “The Blizzard Beach Legend,” you can read it while visiting and get clued in on the backstory for the water park.
During our visit, we also saw advertisements for a premium “Painting in the Snow” experience, where guests can take part in a two-hour canvas painting experience led by local artists.
It was a great day to be back at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. We’ll “ski you later”!
