The Liquid Layer splash pad in the World Discovery neighborhood of EPCOT is being repainted. Crews put construction walls up around the splash pad for a refurbishment a week ago.
World Discovery Splash Pad Refurbishment
From the Walt Disney World Monorail, we can see the splash pad behind construction walls.
The splash pad is now covered in yellow plastic sheets, while the circular tiles over the fountains have been repainted shades of blue.
While the fountain tiles were previously all dark blue, now several are teal blue.
We don’t yet know what the rest of the splash pad will look like, but it may be getting a completely new color scheme to match the rest of EPCOT.
The above photo, from the start of construction, shows that the old colorful pavement was removed from the splash pad.
This photo is from the splash pad’s 2021 reopening, showing what the splash pad previously looked like. The purple pillars from around the splash pad have also been removed.
The nearby World Discovery snack cart reopened with an updated paint scheme a few weeks ago.
The main color of World Discovery is red, while World Celebration is blue and World Nature is green. The three neighborhoods used to be the single Future World.
The years-long reimagining of EPCOT is finally drawing to a close after many delays. Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” officially opened on October 16, the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. The center of World Celebration will be completed in December. The neighborhood will include CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza, Dreamers Point with a new Walt Disney statue, and gardens. CommuniCore Hall will include the new permanent Mickey & Friends meet and greet space, an art gallery, a demo kitchen, and more.
