Themed Elements Removed From NBA Experience at Disney Springs

Four years after permanently closing the NBA Experience at Disney Springs, Disney has begun to remove some of the building’s theming.

The NBA Experience took over what was previously DisneyQuest. As the NBA Experience, the building featured a wave of large silver panels across the roof’s edge. These began on the corner above City Works Eatery & Pour House, then wrapped around the front of the building.

About half of the panels remain, all above City Works.

After City Works, the panels abruptly end before reaching the large screen on the side of the building. They previously continued all the way down to the next corner.

There are holes at the edge of the building where the elements used to hang.

The building is still covered in blue and gray rectangles.

The NBA Experience opened in August 2019 and saw poor attendance for its entire run. In March 2020, it closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and never reopened. In October 2020, all Cast Members working at the location were laid off but Disney didn’t announce the permanent closure until August 2021.

For a short time in 2022, the building was used for a “Star Wars” VR experience.
