The carousel has been undergoing refurbishment since February, with various horses roped off for work. Beneath the ten horses currently unavailable, the floor has been freshly stained brown.

When compared to the rest of the carousel’s flooring, this section looks much cleaner and darker.

The horses aren’t just roped off for work on the floor. Crews are also repainting the entablature on the edge of the carousel’s roof. The tarps on the horses keep them protected.

The relief sculptures above the roped-off horses are partially repainted. The frieze features angelic figures with flags and eagles, leftover from when the attraction was The Liberty Carousel over 100 years ago. The Philadelphia Toboggan Company constructed the ride in 1917.

The printed tarp has been moved as more sections of the entablature are repainted.

There is currently almost no paint on this section around the image of the Fairy Godmother. There are touches of gold, including gold foil on the image’s frame. Some of the carousel’s lights have also been deactivated during work.
