“Captain America: Brave New World” is currently filming reshoots, this time, with a new cast member in Giancarlo Esposito.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Giancarlo Esposito has officially been cast to play a villain in the Marvel Studios film, “Captain America: Brave New World.” Details about his character are being kept under wraps. Filming for the project originally wrapped in June 2023, in which Esposito was not involved. The reshoots, which are common among Marvel projects, began the week of May 31 and will continue for 22 days. Plot details remain unknown.
Esposito has not been shy about his desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most recently, during an appearance at Phoenix Fan Fusion, he hinted “The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict. It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.” If all goes as planned, his appearance in “Brave New World” could be the tease he mentioned. Esposito is no stranger to playing villains in Disney projects, having portrayed Moff Gideon in the Disney+ series, “The Mandalorian.”

“Captain America: Brave New World” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson in his first time on the big screen since taking on the Captain American mantle. He previously played the role in the 2021 Disney+ miniseries, “The Falcon and the Winter Solider.” Guests can meet Sam Wilson Captain America in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. The movie, scheduled for a February 14, 2025 release, will also star Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a role previously played by William Hurt, prior to his passing in 2022.
