Construction walls are up at the entrances to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure as crews work on the next set of new entrance gates.
Disneyland & Disney California Adventure Entrance Gate Construction
At the Disneyland Park entrance, beige-colored walls surround one of the central sections of gates. Construction began on the Disneyland gates last fall. The first of the park’s new “tapstiles” opened on the left side in late 2024, although weren’t yet fully operational.
Now that the busy holiday season is over, Disney is ready to continue work on the new gates. They will use facial-recognition technology, which they tested at Disney California Adventure in May 2024.
The Disneyland construction walls are decorated with blue panels featuring stars. Some are branded with the Disneyland Resort wordmark. Others ask guests to “Pardon our Pixie Dust as we refurbish this area for your future enjoyment.”
The right half of the Disneyland entrance still has the old tapstile system. Construction work will likely continue to move down the gates as each section is completed.
The construction walls continue inside the park, blocking any view of the gates under construction.
Over at Disney California Adventure, one of the central sections is blocked by blue construction walls with white decorative panels. The first set of new entrance gates were completed and revealed at Disney California Adventure several months ago. They are now in use for the first time.
The new tapstiles are on the right side of the entrance. Like at Disneyland, the gates are in a pre-launch mode, with the facial recognition technology not yet in use.
For now, Cast Members scan guest tickets and manually take their photos as usual.
The new gates are expected to officially open this year.
