UPDATE: Tortuga Tavern Reopening Delayed Indefinitely at Magic Kingdom

Although Tortuga Tavern at Magic Kingdom was previously scheduled to reopen to guests this week, it remains closed, and all operating hours for the quick-service location have been removed from the Walt Disney World website.

Tortuga Tavern Still Closed

Earlier this week, the website listed operating hours for Tortuga Tavern beginning on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The restaurant failed to open on Wednesday and the venue’s webpage now lists it as closed through at least March 3, 2025 — the furthest date currently available on the calendar.

The Adventureland eatery usually operates seasonally. However, it has been closed since June 2024, through the park’s busy season. From August to November 2024, the venue temporarily became the store Tortuga Treasures while Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the Pirates of the Caribbean exit gift shop, was under refurbishment. Captain Jack Sparrow’s meet-and-greet location was moved to Tortuga Tavern earlier this summer.

A cozy, warmly lit pub reminiscent of Disney Parks magic, with patrons enjoying drinks at tables. Chandeliers and lamps illuminate the scene like a fairytale setting, while paintings adorn the walls. A waiter stands near the center, tending to guests in this enchanting ambience of 2025.

Across from Tortuga Tavern, a new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is under construction in the former Pirates League space. The makeover experience permanently closed in 2020 and the new lounge was announced in 2023. Construction is underway on the pirate lounge, which will reintroduce Peg-Leg Pete, a.k.a. the Barker Bird. It’s scheduled to open in late 2025.
