More progress is being made on the mysterious construction work in the Canada Pavilion at EPCOT, including the structure of what appears to be a new section of roof above a set of entry doors.
Canada Pavilion Construction
When visiting the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT, guests still cannot approach the Hotel Du Canada facade. Brown construction walls still block the entire path to the right of the Trading Post store.
This area toward the back of the pavilion was once home to an upscale boutique that sold jewelry and small souvenirs, called Le Boutiques des Provinces. The shop closed in the early 2000s, and the space has remained empty since then.
Disney has still not announced any formal plans for this location at the back of the pavilion, but we have been watching constant work in the area since construction walls were added all the way back in June 2023. The original walls were briefly removed in February 2024, but the doors at the back of Hotel Du Canada were still blocked by a plastic tarp. The brown construction walls were added back in June 2024 and have remained in place since then.
When looking up from the rocks near the entrance to Canada Far and Wide, we can see more scaffolding has been erected around what appears to be a new awning over the entrance.
During our last construction update, this new roof section was covered only in black waterproofing material. Now, the edges of the awning appear to be covered and work has begun on actually shaping the roof. Disney has not released any information on what type of work is taking place in the Canada pavilion, or if this new area will soon be available for guests.
Disney also filed a construction permit earlier this year for the Canada Pavilion listing “Install Signage” as the project. The company listed in the permit, Design Communications Ltd., has also been contracted at Walt Disney World to install the new signs for Test Track 3.0 in EPCOT and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This permit implies the new area will be accessible to guests since signage will be used to advertise the location.
