RUMOR: Level99 Gaming Venue Potentially Replacing Former NBA Experience at Disney Springs

Something might finally replace the NBA Experience at Disney Springs. A business filing indicates a Level99 interactive gaming venue is coming to the Walt Disney World shopping district.

According to a Notice Under Fictitious Name filed with the Orlando Sentinel on February 19, Level99 is “engaged in business” at 1486 E Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista.

A business files a Notice Under Fictitious Name with a local newspaper when they intend to do business under a different name. In this case, Level99 is the fictitious name for Open World Entertainment LLC, which was incorporated in Florida on February 12.

The address in the notice approximately corresponds to the west side of Disney Springs, where the NBA Experience was located. It’s not for a specific building, so we can only guess at the location. The notice does not contain any more information about what the new experience would entail, but Level99 destinations use quite a bit of space, so the NBA Experience building would be a prime venue.

Level99 describes itself as a “first-of-its-kind destination for adults featuring real-world, interactive social gaming with over 50 physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments.” Experiences include:

  • Themed Challenges: “Work together in dozens of unique challenge rooms with your team of 2-6 players to test your body and mind. Your team has each room to yourself, but only 1-4 minutes to complete each challenge, so act quick!”
  • Player – vs – Player Duels: “If competition is more your style, face off against your friends in a variety of player-vs-player competitions for glory and bragging rights.”
  • Local art installations: “Featuring over 50 pieces of local one-of-a-kind art, our games will have you searching, solving, and discovering every inch of this wonderland space.”

Level99 opened its first location in Natick, MA in 2021. It opened a second location in Providence, RI last year. Pricing starts at $29.99, although it’s possible the cost could be higher at a Disney location.

NBA Experience

The NBA Experience took over the former DisneyQuest space in August 2019. The latter closed in July 2017 after over 15 years of operation. The NBA Experience was not well received and it ultimately only operated until March 2020. It closed at that time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Disney announced over a year later that it would never reopen.

The building has mostly sat empty since, with its outdoor screens used to advertise other Disney Springs offerings. It hosted a limited-time “Star Wars” VR experience in 2022. Disney filed a permit for demolition at the building in February 2024. Decorative elements were later removed from the exterior.
