A timelapse camera has been installed in DinoLand U.S.A., presumably to record construction as the area continues its transformation into the Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

During a recent visit to the park, we noticed the camera had been set up on the roof of what was formerly Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. The brand of the camera appears to be EarthCam, and it provides a wide-angle view of the construction site.

Using this camera allows Disney to capture behind-the-scenes footage of the construction and its progress over time.

The timelapse camera can also be seen from the back of Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. Recently, we reported that more signage had been removed from the roof and all that remains is the visible framework.

The former TriceraTop Spin attraction continues to be dismantled behind the construction walls, though not much change has been seen here since our last update.

The last remaining rolling planters near the Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama sign have now been replaced by green construction walls.

Behind the walls, we noticed that the area that previously housed the now-extinct Primeval Whirl was visible once more.

After the ride was fully demolished in 2021, walls were set up to close off the empty area to guests as the remainder of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama was still accessible. Now that the entire area has been permanently closed, there is no need for the additional walls and they have been taken down.

A vibrant outdoor scene unfolds with people strolling beneath a grand archway at Disney Parks, set against a street bordered by trees and buildings. In the background, a clock tower stands tall under the clear blue sky of 2025.

Replacing DinoLand U.S.A. is the Tropical Americas land which will be home to the fictional town of Pueblo Esperanza. There will be multiple new attractions including a carousel featuring Disney animals, an Indiana Jones attraction that will replace DINOSAUR, and an “Encanto” attraction where guests can visit the Casita.

  1. You gotta love the Disney tradition of having a timelapse construction camera! That goes back to the building of Disneyland. They were so ahead of their time.
