“No hints yet,” D’Amaro said with a smile, “but something will happen.”
This week, the fate of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was announced, and its not the news we were hoping for. The experimental interactive experience was announced to close in May of 2023, and final voyages quickly sold out. A month later, Josh D’Amaro said when questioned about the future of the space, “but something will happen.” Now, it has been confirmed that the space will be turned Into Walt Disney Imagineering offices, rather than an offering for guests.
In good news for Star Wars and Disney Parks fans, the Rise of the Resistance attraction at Disneyland saw an exciting return for a missing effect. The cannons in one of the show scenes ar finally moving again! If you never experienced it, we will say why this is important, and why we hope to see this return to the sister attraction in Florida very soon.
On ParksCenter, we’ve been very vocal about our disappointment in the use of the Communicore Hall space at EPCOT. While original concept art showed us a space with exhibits and more, the space has basically been a food hall for 3 of the 4 festivals. With the latest festival, the space seems better, but obviously, Disney knows there is still room for improvement as shown by their latest guest survey. We’ll discuss.
Also at EPCOT this week, parts of the ceiling in the Soarin’ Around the World queue collapsed nearly hitting several guests and Cast Members. Cast Members were quick to block off the area and address the situation, which we were told has since been fixed. While this is a freak accident, does it speak to a larger issue of maintenance needed in the parks?
Over at Universal, Mardi Gras festivities started this week. We’ll talk about the event, the food and of course the parade. We also have a look at the merch and the tribute store for this event, now in its 30th year. Is this a must-see festival or is it skippable?
We knew that Jellyrolls dueling piano bar would be closing soon at Disney’s BoardWalk, but we now know that it will be moving – however, the bar’s new location will not be at Walt Disney World. Will this leave a hole in the offerings at the Boardwalk, or will there be something even better? Would you go to Jellyrolls at its new location?
Also, we have another edition of “It Came From The Parks,” we take a look at the Disneyland After Dark Sweethearts Night event, Valentine’s Day offerings in the parks, Universal Fan Nights the latest construction updates and permits, and more!
