Guests will be able to see the trio of small droids outside Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. Tokyo Disneyland is adding characters from “Ahsoka,” “Andor,” and “The Mandalorian” to the Star Tours rotation. These scenes were added to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland versions of the ride last year.

From April 8 through June 30, guests are guaranteed to get one of the new clips on their Star Tours adventure. After the event period, the new scenes will be incorporated randomly into future rides.

There are four BDX droids in total, but only three appeared at Tokyo Disneyland on their first day, April 7. According to an interview with Moritz Bächer, Associate Lab Director of Disney’s Zurich robotics team, these three droids are named Besh (blue), Grek (green), and Oskar (orange), although they go by different names at Tokyo Disneyland. The fourth droid is Red (and is the color red).

The droids are capable of walking around, making noises, shining lights, and interacting with guests. They have personalities and emotions, as demonstrated in a recent video released by Disney Research that shows how they’re incorporating autonomous interaction into the droid technology.

BDX droids first appeared at Disneyland in October 2023 for a playtest in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. A few months later, they made limited-time daily appearances for Season of the Force 2024. They set sail on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish earlier this year.

The robots earned Disney the 2025 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Technical Innovation.

Though they were invented just for Disney Parks, the BDX droids are inspired by BD explorer droids already seen in “Star Wars” media. BD droids first appeared in “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.” The video game and its sequel feature Cal Kestis’ droid, BD-1. Another example of the droid model is BD-72, Peli Motto’s droid in “The Book of Boba Fett” and “The Mandalorian.”

BDX droids will appear on screen for the first time in “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” in theaters on May 22, 2026.

In addition to Tokyo Disneyland, the BDX droids will travel to Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World “later this year.”

At SXSW 2025, Disney revealed the Audio-Animatronic droidsmith Otto atop a BDX droid. Otto, who is of the Anzellan species, has not yet made an in-park appearance.
