Visible tarps offer insight into construction of the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge at Magic Kingdom.
Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge Construction
The transparent tarps peek above the construction walls outside Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar. There has barely been construction visible above these walls in the past several months. The tarps are taped up to the balcony façade above the future lounge space.
The tarps suggest more intensive construction or maybe paintwork that necessitates protecting the balcony railings.
The new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern is taking over the former Pirates League space. Although Pirates League closed five years ago, its signage remains.
There has also been some refresh work on the opposite side of the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance, around the clock tower.

The new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern will open in late 2025. Disney hasn’t announced an exact date or official name. It will serve “a sea-worthy selection of grogs and grub”. The lounge will mark the return of the Barker Bird, a.k.a. Peg-Leg Pete, an Audio-Animatronic bird who once invited guests to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. Peg-Leg Pete was present at the Magic Kingdom attraction from 1973 to 2006.
