Tortilla Jo’s in the Downtown Disney District has been gutted as the demolition process of the former restaurant continues.
Tortilla Jo’s Demolition
Last month, we reported that crews had begun to tear down the awnings of the facade. Doors had also been removed and a small roof was torn up. Now, the process of gutting the building has begun.

Previously, the Tortilla Jo’s sign remained intact on the side of the building, as seen in the photo on the right. Now, it’s covered in a tan scrim and scaffolding.
Most of the interior of the building has been gutted. Remaining inside is a staircase, an elevator, and a few other supporting structural pieces.
Part of the pinkish exterior remains on the sides of the building.
Looking through the center of the building, you can see a set of doors and the wood framework that remains.
In the nearby lot is an excavator and construction equipment, as well as a pile of rubble near a plywood wall.
Tortilla Jo’s closed permanently in March 2024, with the Taqueria closing the following month. Demolition of the dining establishment began in February 2025.

Tortilla Jo’s and the Taqueria will be replaced by two dining locations. One is Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, a classic steakhouse with a center bar. The second is Pearl’s Roadside BBQ, a quick-service eatery.
The Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort has been undergoing an extensive transformation for several years. The former ESPN Zone is being transformed into a series of shops. Opening within the past few months are the new Parkside Market, Disney Storyland Boutique, Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, D-Lander Shop, and Avengers Reserve.
