The refurbishment of the planets outside Mission: SPACE in EPCOT may be complete, but the mosaics on the ground are still in rough shape.
Mission: SPACE Pavement Mosaics

The mosaic-style planets were added to the pavement of Planetary Plaza in 2023 but quickly became rundown and broken due to frequent foot traffic. Over the past few months, crews have “fixed” the mosaics with concrete.

The mosaics all look less-than-stellar these days, with patches of stones missing or significantly faded and uneven concrete filling in the gaps.

The large planets, however, are looking good. The Earth sculpture was refurbished and its spinning restored earlier this year. The Jupiter statue was also refreshed last year.
Crews had been replacing the ombré paneling on the large Mars sculpture that acts as the attraction’s entrance. The paneling all appears to be shiny and new, but we can’t be sure work is done.
There are a pair of panels on the side of the sculpture that are puckering. These may need to be secured better or replaced.
Mission: SPACE Cast Members also weren’t sure if the refurbishment is complete. They said construction crews haven’t been in the area for a while, because of the more intensive Test Track reimagining happening next door.

WDWNT first reported on the faded and damaged Mars in March 2023. Crews began repairing the red planet just a few weeks later, and have been on and off for the past two years. For comparison, below is the sculpture in March 2023.
