PeopleMover Reopens After One Day With Construction Walls

After a one-day closure, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom has reopened.

On Thursday, construction walls completely wrapped around the PeopleMover’s entrance ramps. They were completely removed overnight. Cast Members told us yesterday that the ride’s entrance was receiving maintenance and it was expected to reopen today (Friday).

Sure enough, the ride is open and operational. The “down” ramp was operational, but the “up” ramp was not at the time of publication.

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover opened at Magic Kingdom on July 1, 1975, inspired by the original PeopleMover at Disneyland. Though the Disneyland version closed in 1995, the Walt Disney World attraction remained. The ride itself has not changed but it has received new narration and the 1970s entrance turnstiles were replaced this summer.
