Tokyo Disney Resort has shared an aerial photo of their new Space Mountain, which is under construction and set to open in 2027.
New Space Mountain

The photo was taken in late January 2026. Since our last construction update, more white paneling and spires have been completed, although the building is not yet completely enclosed.
With the aerial view, we also have our first look at progression on the new Tomorrowland plaza in front of the coaster — although there isn’t much to see except lots of construction equipment. There are some paved foundational areas and what looks like a pile of dirt covered by tarps. Closer to the ride building are structures surrounded by scaffolding.
The coaster, rumored to be named Space Mountain: Earthrise, will be Disney’s most expensive ride ever. Construction began before the old Space Mountain closed in July 2024. It will feature enhanced performance and immersive special effects.

The plaza is designed to express the connection between Earth and the universe, representing an image of a future where humans are in harmony with nature. After dark, the area will draw guests into a world of light and soundscapes.
