Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Entrance Concrete Completed, Archway Cleaned Up

Disney is getting closer to reopening Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at EPCOT. A new sign was installed outside the ride last week. Now crews have completed pavement and begun refurbishing the entrance archway.

The sidewalk outside Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin was torn up in January to make way for the new entrance features. Crew members began pouring new concrete a few weeks ago. Now the pavement is completely filled in. The sign sits on an elevated platform directly in front of the ride’s entry doors.

The old entrance signs and themed archway were also removed in January. In the past two weeks, more theming was stripped from around the doors. There were still some splotches of purple paint visible last week, but these have been cleaned off or smoothed over with fresh concrete.

The archway structure is now ready for new paint and theming.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will reopen this spring. Disney recently teased Toy Story 5 Easter eggs and more surprises in the updated ride.

We already know it will have all-new ride vehicles, replacing the original 1970s If You Had Wings vehicles. Guests will wield new handheld blasters and aim at updated interactive targets. The vehicles will have new displays and a revamped scoring system. A new training scene at the beginning of the ride introduces Buddy the robot. The climactic battle scene is also getting updated.
