The Disney Lorcana Challenge championship series will make its way to the Disneyland Resort in 2026, according to an announcement made during the Disney Lorcana TCG Challenge event in Ghent, Belgium.

The North American championship will take place from August 28–30, 2026, at the Disneyland Hotel. The competitive event is part of the organized play circuit for Lorcana, bringing together players (known as “Illumineers”) to compete in regional tournaments for a championship title.

The announcement also included confirmation that a European championship will be held shortly afterward, from September 11–13, 2026, at the Disney Newport Bay Club & Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, both hotels at Disneyland Paris.

This will be the second-ever championship event in the Lorcana circuit, with the first also held at Disneyland Resort last year, culminating in a World Championship event held at Walt Disney World Resort.

Tickets will be $110 for Last Chance Qualifiers and $50 for attendees. Tickets are identically priced in Euros for European competitors and attendees. Tickets for the North American event go on sale on March 22. Reportedly, all tickets include a goodie bag containing items such as a lanyard, event badge, promotional card, tote bag, and two booster packs from the upcoming “Attack of the Vine” card set.

The championship weekend will feature multiple activities beyond the main competition. Attendees will be able to participate in side events, meet Disney characters, interact with Lorcana artists and developers, and explore merchandise at a Ravensburger sales booth.

The Explosive Popularity of Lorcana

Disney Lorcana is a collectible trading card game developed by Ravensburger in partnership with The Walt Disney Company and officially launched in August 2023.

The game features characters from Disney animated films and television series presented in original artwork and card designs. Players build decks of at least 60 cards and compete by summoning characters and items using magical “ink,” with the goal of collecting 20 points—called lore—before their opponent.

The game was first announced at the 2022 D23 Expo and debuted with its initial card set, The First Chapter, followed by additional expansions released regularly throughout the year. Lorcana quickly gained attention within the tabletop gaming community for blending Disney characters with mechanics similar to established trading card games while remaining accessible to beginners.

In the years since the game’s debut, Disney has officially hosted a variety of events and limited offerings beyond the competitive circuit. At this year’s Festival of the Arts at EPCOT, a scavenger hunt was offered for park guests that encouraged card trading by design and freely provided a Lorcana booster pack in addition to exclusive promotional cards.
