Crews have cleared trees from around the former “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” theater in the Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure. The theater was recently surrounded by construction walls eight years after the show closed.

Aerial photographer @bioreconstruct shared pictures on X of the space around the theater now almost completely cleared of foliage. Some planter walls have been demolished.

There are yellow markings on the pavement between the entrance archway and actual theater. These are future underground utility work.

Despite closing permanently in 2018, sets for “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” remained standing for years. Guests could see the sets from outside the theater but also got to see them up close when the space was used as a U-Rest area and then a Cool Zone. We don’t know the status of the sets now.

Universal hasn’t shared details of what will replace the Lost Continent. They only confirmed there would be “construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments.”

There are also construction walls up around Poseidon’s Fury, which closed permanently in 2023. Tree removal from a strip of land between Poseidon’s Fury and the Sindbad theater means you can now see the theater clearly from the other side of Lost Continent.

The construction walls in our above photos are those in front of Poseidon’s Fury. The building in the distance is the theater. Though it may look like demo has begun on the building, it was meant to look like ruins and the fake damage is part of its theming.

The only attraction remaining in the land is the talking Mystic Fountain, still standing in the courtyard outside the Sindbad theater.
