Poseidon’s Fury Surrounded by Construction Walls 3 Years After Closing

After Poseidon’s Fury at Universal Islands of Adventure permanently closed in May 2023, the attraction’s exterior went mostly untouched. Three years later, there are now construction walls surrounding the building and water features as Universal prepares for something new in the Lost Continent.

Construction walls have gone up and down at the Poseidon’s Fury exit for the past few months. The new walls are in front of the giant statue of Poseidon’s arm sticking out of the ground. His trident crosses over the walls, ending in a rock form nearby.

The carved “Escape From The Lost City” rock is still exposed outside the walls. The “Poseidon’s Fury” sign was removed from this structure within a few weeks of the attraction’s closure.

The former entrance is now completely blocked. It was previously only inaccessible thanks to temporary barriers. Most water was drained from the surrounding pools early this year.

The walls are decorated with Lost Continent-inspired artwork — the same icons on the walls around “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” theater. That show closed in 2018 but the theater remained standing with the show sets in full view.

Universal said last fall that there would be “construction activity” in the Lost Continent to “ensure the area is ready for any future developments.” They have not announced what those future developments might be.
