Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Building Almost Completely Repainted, More Color Added to Guitar

The transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is happening swiftly at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With just over a month to go before opening, the show building is now almost entirely gray instead of beige.

Crews started painting the building gray just a few days ago. They began on the left side of the building, at the store — Rock Around the Shop. Now the gray paint is across the entire facade, including behind the iconic guitar.

The walls are a darker gray, while the decorative edge elements are a lighter gray. The metallic stripes were already part of the facade.

One decorative edge near the store does remain beige.

Crews have started painting the right side of the building, where guests enter, but there’s also still some beige visible here.

They’re painting the wall that separates the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster queue from the Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After courtyard. Behind rolling planters, we can see that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster side of the wall is now gray.

We could also see crew members working in the coaster’s outdoor queue. They’re painting more walls gray, with covers protecting the railings and floor.

As for the red guitar, we can see more touches of its new groovy color scheme. From the distance, pink waves are visible on the right side of the body. These don't appear to match concept art.

Here’s a closer look at some of the guitar’s pink paint. The area peeking above the scrim and scaffolding was previously sanded to remove the red. It was then covered in plastic. Some of the plastic has been removed and it looks like more pink paint was added but it’s still not complete.

Through the scrim blocking most of the guitar from view, we also saw fresh pink waves on the left side of the guitar. These pink sections join flourishes of blue, yellow-orange, and red.

For reference, below is what the guitar and show building previously looked like.

As seen in the concept art below, the Aerosmith poster will be replaced by a Muppets poster and the piano motif will gain a gold key, inspired by Dr. Teeth of The Electric Mayhem.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

People gather at night in front of the brightly lit Rock 'n' Roller Coaster guitar at a theme park attraction.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open on May 26, 2026.

Though dates haven’t been announced, Disney confirmed Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster previews for Cast Members, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Annual Passholders.

Disney recently launched an official webpage for the revamped ride. They released the complete tracklist, announced celebrity cameos, and shared The Electric Mayhem posters. The celebrities and posters will appear in the queue, likely alongside MuppetVision 3D props.

The Muppets band jams in a studio as fans watch and snap photos—like concept art come to life.

Guests will meet The Electric Mayhem in the recording booth of G-Force Records, which was purchased by Scooter’s uncle J.P. Grosse. To make it to The Electric Mayhem’s concert across town, guests will board Muppet Labs’ Lengthy Immediate Motion Object – L.I.M.O.
