Jumping from Andor to Corona, Diego Luna is the latest star cast in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Tangled.
Diego Luna Joins ‘Tangled’ Cast
While already in Disney’s orbit, Diego Luna is primarily known for his lead role on the Star Wars series Andor, a prequel to his other Star Wars film Rogue One. This is his first time starring in a Disney film. We don’t know yet what his role in the live-action Tangled remake will be, nor whether it will involve singing. Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of his casting.
The live-action Tangled movie will start filming in Spain in June.
‘Tangled’ Live-Action Film Cast
Also in the Tangled cast are Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and Teagan Croft as Rapunzel.
The live-action version of Tangled has had a fittingly, well, tangled journey to production. We first reported on the development of a live-action Tangled remake in 2020, ten years after the original film’s release, and it was announced in December 2024 as being in development with The Greatest Showman film director Michael Gracey.
The project was then placed on “indefinite hold” in April 2025 following the disappointing performance of the live-action Snow White film, but resumed production in October 2025 after the blockbuster live-action Lilo & Stitch. Gracey is still directing, and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is still writing the script.
