Room service onboard Disney Cruise Line ships has always been a free amenity. However, that seems to be changing in the near future for the Disney Adventure.
Possible Room Service Charges

Starting next week, the Disney Adventure is implementing a new $5 service charge for room service orders. In addition to this, there will be an 18% auto-gratuity added as well.
It is worth noting that breakfast orders placed via door hangers and for concierge-level guests will be excluded from the charges.
This would be the first time a Disney Cruise Line ship has charged for room service. This is often one of the services included with the cruise that made Disney Cruise Line a guest-favorite and an industry standout.
We also noted that the Disney Adventure is not listed on the Disney Cruise Line Room Service webpage; it is the only ship from the fleet missing.
As the ship is new, this is one of the growing pains it is now experiencing. The ship crew is having difficulty keeping up with orders, which is likely why this new system is being applied.
First-Ever Additional Charge Dessert Party

Earlier this month, we reported that the Disney Adventure was now offering a paid, add-on dessert party option for The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky. This was also a first for Disney Cruise Line.
The experience is $49 per guest and takes place from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. We were told it is bookable through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Though if that is not possible, you can call Guest Services as we did to book.
May 7 Sailing Canceled

At the beginning of May, we also reported that the May 7, 4-night sailing was canceled due to a ship mechanical issue. Disney provided guests with a full refund for the sailing and any booked amenities, a 50% discount on a future sailing, and a complimentary hotel stay for the night. Some reported they were also providing $500 USD for incidental expenses like flight changes, while other reports indicated Disney was fully covering all flight changes.
As we stated earlier, there are growing pains with a brand-new ship.
