Make-A-Wish Kid Meets Disney Imagineers, Controls a BDX Droid

All throughout Disney Week of Wishes, Disney is spotlighting the nearly 200 wishes they have granted this week. One of these wishes belongs to Eli, who spent time with Disney Imagineers.

Meet Eli, Honorary Disney Imagineer

Eli visited the Disneyland Resort for the first time and was also treated to a behind-the-scenes experience with the Disney Imagineering department. There, he met former Make-A-Wish kid Sidney, who is now an Associate Special Effects Designer at Disney.

Sidney wished to go to Walt Disney World to forget about his medications and treatments and to “be a kid again.” That unforgettable experience inspired Sidney to recreate that same feeling for people in the future, leading him to become a Disney Imagineer.

Eli became an honorary Disney Imagineer and learned more about Audio-Animatronics, including learning how to control a BDX droid unit. Sidney encouraged him to stay curious and ask lots of questions.

You can watch Eli’s experience below:

During the Disney Week of Wishes, Disney is spotlighting stories that show the deep relationship between them and Make-A-Wish. From helping children meet their favorite Disney Princess or Marvel superhero, to assembling 10,000 wish kits, to even inspiring a former Wish kid to becoming a Disney Cast Member herself, Disney is committed to making kids’ dreams come true.
