The former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano at Disney’s Hollywood Studios appears to have been gutted to prepare for its transformation into Harryhausen’s from Monsters, Inc.
Monstropolis Construction

As we previously reported, many of the Muppets Courtyard buildings had been stripped to their studs, including the Mama Melrose’s facade. It’s now clear much of the building’s exterior walls have been removed and the interior gutted. However, we could still see the Mona Lisa mural on the side of the building.

Meanwhile, drywall has been installed across the theater facade. The drywall covers areas where brickwork was removed. Since our last update, a brown sealant was added over the drywall.

These areas will get new decorations, including a brand-new marquee. The theater, which once held MuppetVision 3D, will be renamed The Glob and house a new theatrical experience.

An opening timeframe for Monstropolis hasn’t been announced. Like Mama Melrose’s, PizzeRizzo is also expected to be re-themed. A second crane recently arrived for construction of the door coaster at the back of the land.
