Crews have begun construction outside Magic Kingdom related to the upcoming ferryboat dock expansion. Disney filed a permit for construction in February and it was approved by the state’s water management district in March.
Ferryboat Dock Expansion

The current construction zone is not far from the Magic Kingdom dock on the east side of the Seven Seas Lagoon. Grass and shrubbery have been cleared and a digger is being used for excavation.

This zone isn’t for the actual dock but the floodplain compensation area. The location is highlighted in the image below.

The project area includes the expanded dock and an expanded queue for the ferryboats.
This expansion follows the 2021 addition of second-level ramps for quicker unloading of the boats. The bigger dock will help support the addition of a fourth ferryboat, announced in May.
The boat is now under construction backstage at Magic Kingdom but won’t be ready for guests until next year. The existing boats are named the Admiral Joe Fowler, the General Joe Potter, and the Richard F. Irvine. The fourth boat is named after Meg Gilbert Crofton, Walt Disney World’s fourth president.
