Moat Filled at Cinderella Castle, Repainting Project Complete at Magic Kingdom

Just a few days after crews began refilling the moat around Cinderella Castle, the process is now complete. This is one of the final steps (if not the final step) of the repainting project at the castle.

Moat Refilled Around Cinderella Castle

Just a few days after crews began refilling the moat around Cinderella Castle, the process is now complete. This is one of the final steps (if not the final step) of the repainting project at the castle.

During our visit today, June 4, the water is back up to its usual level. The process of repainting the castle began back in January when pink paint began to be painted over.

With this step complete, the Cinderella Castle repainting project is visibly complete. We are unsure if there are any final touch ups or tasks that need to be done. However, from this viewpoint, it’s likely any other tasks will not be noticeable to guests.

On the Tomorrowland side, crews also took the empty moat as an opportunity to repaint the large rocks along the bridge. That was completed earlier this Spring.

The waterfall is fully functioning once again as well.

There are some tarps near Tomorrowland Terrace that still need to be removed. We are unsure if there is work yet to be done in that area.

The moat was drained back in February as the castle was restored to its original color scheme. Disney said two weeks ago that the painting project was “almost complete.”

Cinderella Castle received the previous pink, royal blue, and gray color scheme for the park’s 50th anniversary in 2021. Disney announced in summer 2025 that the castle would be restored to its classic colors of gray of light blue.
