Why are ‘Toy Story’ Characters Inside MuppetVision 3D?

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that a video about the Toy Story 5 premiere shows Woody, Buzz, and Jessie in what looks like the MuppetVision 3D theater.

In the video below, the trio step one by one over the camera out of a theater onto the red carpet at the premiere, their outfits changing slightly to reflect their looks in the new film.

The theater features the distinctive red boxes, seats, and carpeting of the MuppetVision 3D theater, which many in the comments recognized.

It is the MuppetVision theater, but not the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version that closed last year.

In fact, it’s the Disney California Adventure theater that once housed MuppetVision 3D but has been home to Mickey’s PhilharMagic since 2018.

The characters all appear at Disney California Adventure, so it makes sense that they were filmed there. However, their meet and greets are at Pixar Pier and the PhilharMagic theater is in Hollywood Land on the other side of the park.

The MuppetVision 3D theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is being reimagined into The Glob, part of a new Monstropolis land. The Muppets have instead taken over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
