The upcoming Marvel film has generated $16.5 million in advance ticket sales for its new premium theater format after only one day.

Avengers: Doomsday Advance Ticket Sales

According to Deadline, this statistic is particularly impressive due to the fact that the advance tickets were only available for premium formats in just 1,000 domestic theaters. Earlier this year, Disney announced Infinity Vision, a premium large format theater certification. They will offer Infinity Vision tickets for a re-release of Avengers: Endgame in September as well.

First-day sales are also notable because they don’t include IMAX. Avengers: Doomsday won’t have access to IMAX since Dune: Part 3, debuting on the same day, has the entire IMAX screening schedule exclusively for three weeks.

“Dunesday,” the portmanteau for the same-day debuts of Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part 3, could result in one of the biggest collective weekends in box office history. Avengers: Doomsday also has big shoes to fill, though, considering Avengers: Endgame was the second highest-grossing movie of all time behind Avatar, earning $2.9 billion worldwide.

The runtime for Avengers: Doomsday has already been announced, and Disney recently shared a first look at Avengers: Doomsday with concept art featuring new and old Avengers, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four with Doctor Doom looming over them.

Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18, 2026. The movie will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, currently scheduled for December 17, 2027.
