Walt Disney World filed two permits for construction at The Magic of Disney Animation, a new version of an old attraction opening soon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Magic of Disney Animation Construction Permits

The Notices of Commencement are for 190 Showbiz Blvd, the attraction address, and 200 Showbiz Blvd, the address for the attached building that formerly housed a division of Disney’s Feature Animation. In the original version of The Magic of Disney Animation, guests could watch animators at work through a window connecting the buildings.

The permits are filed by Disney’s Sourcing & Procurement department and list Buena Vista Construction Company, Disney’s in-house construction team. They call for Buena Vista to “Provide labor, materials and/or electrical for construction”.

As is standard, both permits expire in one year.

The Magic of Disney Animation

The Magic of Disney Animation is set to open this summer, although an exact date has not been announced and the permit confirms construction is still ongoing. Last month, Disney shared a behind-the-scenes video of work on the attraction’s Mary Blair-inspired Alice in Wonderland playground, Drawn to Wonderland.

The Magic of Disney Animation will also include a new Animation Academy experience hosted by Olaf (instead of live artists) and six new meet and greets. Disney released the above map of the space in late May.

The attraction is part of the reimagined Animation Courtyard inspired by the real Walt Disney Studios, including a giant sorcerer hat on the facade. Next door is Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! Several characters meet in the courtyard, including some that will later move inside The Magic of Disney Animation.
