The release of the programing lineup for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026 revealed a new description for the feature length documentary from Leslie Iwerks premiering during the weekend.
New Leslie Iwerks Documentary
When Disney previously announced Iwerks would premiere a new documentary at D23, they only said it would provide “an exclusive first look at a powerful new Disney story told through her singular lens.”
The new description reveals the documentary will be parks-related and come to Disney+ after the event:
Discover how Disney’s greatest storytellers draw inspiration from the parks where their worlds were always meant to live, featuring a panel with top filmmakers and special guests, followed by the debut screening of Leslie Iwerks’ new feature coming to Disney+.
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will be August 14 – 16, 2026 in Anaheim, California. Check out the programming lineup.
Iwerks is the granddaughter of Ub Iwerks, an original Disney animator and co-creator of Mickey Mouse, and daughter of Disney Legend Don Iwerks, who recently passed away.
Iwerks directed Disneyland Handcrafted, which was released in January, as well as the Emmy Award-nominated The Pixar Story and The Imagineering Story. Her first feature-length documentary was The Hand Behind the Mouse: The Ub Iwerks Story.
