A current guest on the Disney’s Wilderness Resort property told WDWNT that the lodge has been evacuated this afternoon, July 1.
Evacuation

While the guest reported there was no visible smoke, they did smell something “odd” in the lobby area. Multiple fire trucks and ambulances were on the scene. At the time of writing, we did not see any active emergency calls in the WDWActiveCrime feed.

As of 5:25 p.m., guests were allowed back into the building.

Air Conditioning Problems

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was plagued with air conditioning problems in mid to late June. The air conditioning outage was first reported on June 19, with guests sharing that the main building of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge became extremely warm in the guest rooms, the lobby, dining areas, and other indoor spaces.
Comments on social media throughout the initial week of issues indicated that some guest rooms reached the low 80s, with others reporting even higher temperatures during the worst of the outage. The outage came at a time when Walt Disney World and the surrounding Central Florida area had been experiencing heat index values around or above 100 degrees.
As of Sunday morning, June 21, guest reports indicated the air conditioning had not been fully restored across the entire resort. Instead, the issue appeared to be in a partial recovery phase, with some rooms cooling back down while other areas remain uncomfortably warm. The Boulder Ridge Villas, a separate, newer building from the main building, reportedly have not experienced AC issues during this period.
On Wednesday, June 24, air conditioning was turned off at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for maintenance.
The exterior of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has been undergoing refurbishment for the past several months.
